Tokyo Couples Photography

Tokyo Prelude: relaxed, natural photography for couples visiting Tokyo, from quiet neighbourhood walks to cinematic city portraits.

Sessions from · ¥85,000.

More Than a Photoshoot — A Story of You, in Japan

Whether you’re celebrating an engagement, anniversary, or simply the joy of being together in one of the most beautiful countries on earth, your time in Japan deserves to be remembered with intention.

My sessions are relaxed, collaborative experiences. If it’s your first time being professionally photographed and you feel a little anxious, don’t worry, I’ll guide you through each moment — gently, naturally — so you can simply be yourselves.

The result: images that feel alive, full of movement, and deeply personal.

A Different Kind of Couples Photoshoot in Tokyo

Most couples don’t come to Tokyo looking for a photoshoot.

They come for the experience — the atmosphere, the streets, the quiet moments in between.

Tokyo Prelude is built around that idea.

Rather than treating your session as a checklist of locations or poses, we shape it as a natural experience; moving through the city together, allowing space for real moments to unfold, and capturing images that feel like your time here — not a performance of it.

This can be an engagement session, a pre-wedding shoot, an anniversary, or simply a way to remember this chapter of your life together.

What is Tokyo Prelude?

Instead, we focus on:

  • natural movement rather than rigid posing

  • locations that feel calm, textured, and distinctly Tokyo

  • a pace that allows you to settle into the experience

  • light, atmosphere, and timing

  • images that feel lived-in, not manufactured

You don’t need to “perform” for the camera.

You just need to show up as yourselves.

Tokyo Prelude is my signature couples photography experience.

It is designed for couples who want more than a quick set of posed images in busy tourist locations.

Who is it for?

  • are visiting Tokyo and want meaningful photographs together

  • are planning an engagement or pre-wedding session in Japan

  • prefer images that feel relaxed rather than heavily posed

  • feel a little unsure in front of the camera and don’t want pressure

  • value atmosphere, light, and experience over ticking off locations

Tokyo Prelude is designed for couples who want something natural, unforced, and quietly cinematic. It tends to work best if you:

At the same time, it may not be the right fit if you’re looking for a fast, highly structured photoshoot with lots of poses and multiple landmark stops. The focus here is on a slower pace, fewer locations, and creating images that feel like your time together — not a performance of it.

What It Feels Like

Silhouettes of a couple facing each other during sunset, with trees and a golden sky in the background.

There is no rigid script.

We begin with a loose plan — a route, a feeling, a sense of timing — and then allow the session to unfold naturally.

Some moments will be guided; others will simply happen.

We might walk through a quiet neighbourhood, pause for light in a side street, or move through a busier area in a way that still feels personal and contained.

My role is to gently guide, observe, and shape — without interrupting what is already there between you.

Why Work With Me

A joyful couple at a wedding, with the woman playfully tugging on the man's jacket while he holds a bouquet of pink and cream flowers.
A man and woman smiling at each other outdoors during sunset, holding hands.

I’ve spent over two decades living in Japan, and years photographing couples as they experience it for the first time. I love this city and enjoy seeing it again and again through the eyes of my couples.

My approach is shaped by observation rather than control — creating space for real moments, and building images from light, timing, and connection rather than heavy direction.

If you’re looking for something natural, understated, and quietly cinematic, that’s exactly where I work best.

A woman with curly hair hugs a man with short dark hair from behind in an outdoor setting with sunlight in the background, both smiling.
A couple smiling closely together outdoors, with sunlight shining behind them, on a bright sunny day.

Why Tokyo Works So Well for This

Tokyo offers something rare.

You can move from quiet temple grounds to neon-lit streets within minutes, without forcing anything.

That contrast allows your experience to feel calm, reflective, and alive all at once.

It never feels like a staged photoshoot.

It feels like time spent together — in a place that naturally brings those moments out.
